Today, being flexible and adaptable are the most important virtues we need to have because everything is changing rapidly. People who embrace change and can adjust quickly to a new environment are the winners.
Most students like to do familiar things and detect changes as a threat. However, when students learn new concepts, especially when they master them, they have more confidence to deal with situations when new skills are required. In fact, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Alvin Toffler.
Constant learning makes your life exciting and makes you feel alive. Do you know who are the happiest and most excited human beings? They are young children. They are in the steep curve of learning. Everything is new to them. When they are babies, they need to learn to recognise their mums, their dads, their family members. As toddlers, they learn to walk, talk, and test our authority.
In our centre, I usually ask the students ‘What is your proudest moment?’ Many times, I hear ‘I am so proud to have mastered this skill and am excited to show it to my friends.’ ‘Progress makes you happy’. When you see yourself today better than yesterday, it motivates you to go further.
